Storm damage and insurance work
Tiles and slates blown off, ridges lifted, flat roofs peeled back or a tree on the roof. Made safe fast, repaired properly, with photos and a written quote for your insurer.
Storm damage and insurance work
When a storm comes through Suffolk and north Essex, we get calls about the same things: tiles and slates on the lawn, ridge tiles gone, verges stripped, flat roofs lifted at the edges and the occasional tree branch through the roof.
We make the roof safe and watertight first, then carry out the permanent repair. If you're claiming on your home insurance, we photograph the damage and give you a written quote to send them.
Check your roof after a storm
- Tiles, slates or ridge pieces in the garden or on the drive
- Gaps in the roof you can see from the street
- Flat roof coverings lifted or flapping at the edges
- Gutters or downpipes pulled off the wall
- New damp patches on ceilings
- Branches or debris on the roof

How insurers usually look at storm damage
Most home insurance policies cover sudden damage from a storm, but not gradual wear and tear or a lack of maintenance. Many insurers define a storm by wind speed, so it helps to note the date and keep any weather warnings. Every policy is different, so check yours and tell your insurer as soon as you can.
Our job is to give you clear evidence: photos of the damage, a description of what we found and a written quote for the repair.
What to photograph
Take photos from the ground of any missing tiles or damage you can see, anything that's fallen into the garden, and any damage inside, such as stains or wet carpets. Don't move debris until you've photographed it, and don't climb up yourself. We'll take close-up photos from the roof.
Stopping it happening again
Storms find the weak spots: loose ridges, old verge mortar, tiles that weren't clipped, felt that's already split. When we repair storm damage we'll point out anything else that's likely to fail next time, so you can decide whether to deal with it now.
Prices
What affects the price
Every roof is different, so we don't put prices on a website and then add extras later. Lee looks at your roof and gives you a written quote, free, with everything included.

What customers say about our storm damage work
- ★★★★★10/10
"Had a slate roof tile come off during last storm. Contacted Lee and he replied within a couple of minutes. Came round to have a look within 30 minutes and returned the next day in terrible weather to replace the missing tile. Very good service as two other people I contacted didn't even bother to reply. Would highly recommend."

Does home insurance cover storm damage to my roof?
Most policies cover sudden storm damage, but not wear and tear. Check your policy and contact your insurer early. We'll provide photos and a written quote.
Should I repair the roof before my insurer sees it?
Make it safe and stop water getting in, but photograph everything first and keep any damaged materials if you can. Let your insurer know what's been done.
Do you work with insurance companies?
Yes, we take on insurance work and can provide the photos and written quotes insurers need.
A tile came off in the wind. Is it urgent?
If rain is forecast, yes. One missing tile can let a lot of water in. Call us and we'll get it covered or replaced.
